A Boy With A Dog Poem by Suresh Kumar

A Boy With A Dog

In one of the streets of London
Quite cold and foggy in the night
Everybody had seemed long left it
Not a single vehicle and not even people moving around
But except them - a boy with a dog.
The boy sat down on a stone lying on the footpath
And the dog sat close by wrapping itself in silence
They were sitting calmly under the street light
And it was a wonderful sight
I have always remembered
I thought the boy and the dog were the best friends ever
He and his dog stayed on and on for hours together
But in the morning it was all over
Not the boy not the dog, not the cold and not even the fog
I saw only the hustle and bustle of people and vehicles
The boy with the dog vanished as if a mist.
