A Boxer Poem by Randy McClave

A Boxer

Rating: 5.0

He gets hit with a powerful left
Squarely upon his chin's cleft,
Then he's tagged with an overhand right
With all of his opponents might,
He then reels and then he staggers
Then to his left and right he swaggers,
Now a hard left hook lands upon his right ear
Then from his eye, comes a solitary tear,
But, the bird tweets and then it sings
Then the bell, mercifully once again rings.

He gets hit with a combination his opponent throws
Now he has a broken and bleeding nose,
He is then hit with a tremendous left hook
He's dazed, and he doesn't know where to look,
But, he still has his dreams and his hopes
Even when he is knocked hard onto the ropes,
Now he's slugged with a powerful right uppercut
He now lands firmly upon his butt,
Though he has once again hit the ground;
He quickly rises, as a Boxer will not stay down.
