0393 Veterans' Day Poem by Michael Shepherd

0393 Veterans' Day

Rating: 2.3

The veterans of the last time
die off one by one
with a smile
and bitter memories
and pride

but which those others had no chance
to find within themselves

which would think the other
more fortunate?

I hope those in the first stanza are considered more fortunate by all but there is a loneliness rendered by endurance.
