I've got a shell where I hide
The promises I try to keep
Sometimes I take a peek outside
But when I'm done I go back to sleep
...

Should one man say to another
Criticisms that offend
When the former struggles with questions
That he can't understand?
...

Against the horizon, as I slowly watch,

The coming together of the setting sun and the sea.
...

First it was a step,
The path to conquer was long.
Humbled by the majestic mountain,
The Hiker carried on.
...

I never really had the urge
To live another life
I thought that things were meant to be
The way they've come to be
...

Life's a hot air balloon.

We, are passengers on board.

I've got a shell where I hide
The promises I try to keep
Sometimes I take a peek outside
But when I'm done I go back to sleep

Dormant as the world passes me by
With fishes and corals that knock on my door
Yet peacefully and comfortably I lie
Their ostensible friendliness I kindly ignore

Harder they try to pry my door open
And tighter I shut my opening
Why can't they see, why won't they learn,
That solitude was never a suffering

Then when the Shark came they tried to hide,
Some swam faster and farther away.
They must have underestimated the Shark's might,
Who devoured them all without any delay.

I slept through it all not knowing a thing,
Until I woke up one fine day.
Stuck my head out, curiously looking
Shocked by the death and decay

Skeletons of what fishes once were
Lay littered and crushed around me
Corals once brilliant emerald and azure
Turned lifelessly grey in the sea

I never thought it was wise
To follow a herd that was led
By another that never tries
To tell the good from the bad

Devastated I wept for my world
As tears flowed through the night
Till my shell broke, revealing a pearl
Glistening in the bright light
