Along Australia’s meandering coastline
Live a bevy of remarkable sea life
But none so spectacular then
...

I learnt the news over the phone
My job no longer existed
I was no longer required, terminated
An extra body in an organization
...

I hate vegetables
Even though mum tells me
That they are good for me
But how come I never see her
...

I hate vandals, I hate thugs!
Especially the spray paint toting ones
The so-called “ Graffiti Artists”
Who leave their stupid tags everywhere?
...

I wish I were like Thorpe
The super fish that has now retired
No longer to challenge the rest of the world
For their swim records
...

My first Boyfriend
was Stanley Gardner
whomI met in kindy
all thirty long years ago.

Our Father, who art Lord of the Internet
Thou art in cyber space
Let thy HTTPS’s be compatible
And texts be readily downloadable
With illustrations and graphics
To suit the assignments that teachers,
Tutors and lecturers set me
...

I met an ant that piteously said
He was a long way from home
Lost because he had missed
...

Dear Dad
This is just to say
That on the day of your funeral
...

When the cyclone hit my house
I had been floating asleep
Inside my mother’s womb
Until I as rudely awakened
...

Tick, tick, tick
Tick, tick, tick…
The Emergency room wall clock
Taunts me, insults me
...

Yippee
To day I met Dracula’s minion with abandon
Margaret was her name
Blond, affable and up front

Irony is
having blood withdrawn
Every morning
For further tests

My grandma said Ghosts do exist
And that they live in the vastness of space
A conduit between the two worlds
...

Is my most treasured possession
Given to me two years ago
By my son James for my 49th birthday
With it I can keep in touch with the world
...

I dread the annual visit
That my mother schedules for me
A day or two after my birthday
On the 20th of November each year
...

When Egyptian men whisper
Of the great leaders of the past
None whisper of Tutankhamen
But he is remembered nevertheless
...

The Elephant
The Elephant is a magnificent beast
Whose existence will abruptly cease!
Unless we stop the slaughter
...

Christmas
Is the one
Day of The year
That I look forward to
...

I am a couch potato
But I would rather be known as
A supreme comfort seeker
Just like the Buddhist monks

Sea Dragons

Along Australia’s meandering coastline
Live a bevy of remarkable sea life
But none so spectacular then
The elegant sea dragons
Part myth but weedy camouflage
Their long thin bodies like needles
And elongated snouts
Make the sea dragon hard to detect
Now endangered the leafy sea dragon
Is immortalised a the marine emblem
Of South Australia
Like their cousins the sea horses
They live in the depths of the sea
Male dragons conceive and maintain the brood
Until they hatch and whilst mother dragon
Swim nearby like the imperial guards of old
Guarding their offspring against predators
So should you ever be lucky enough
You might cast an eye on this elegant creature
The supermodels of the deep!
