K. J. Broadhurst Poems

Behind the walls that few can see

Are the children who have left us
...

All around me are stories of love

Of passionate nights
...

The candle sat their burning bright

My soul dyeing with the flickering of the light
...

His heart is torn by the waves of emotion

But his strength is a rock of passion and devotion

Does the sun continue to rise?

As I shut my eyes for the last time

Why do you ask such a question, one I
Could never answer, for immoral murder
Do you suggest. I can only sigh
For I fear I make no difference, oh herder

Tom makes his way to work as usual, the
Night silent and cool. In the corner of his

A Parents Prayer

Behind the walls that few can see

Are the children who have left us

Watching patiently never leaving us be

They are the candles to our soul

Burning away our tears

And the pains that take there toll

They do not like to see us sad

Or to watch us frown upon the world

Thinking it nothing but bad

When we are happy they are close

When we are sad they love us the most

Just remember that they are well and safe

All they need from you

Is to have faith
