Green veins brim with chlorophyll
It sends color through 'plasts
Life beats with a trees heart
But the color won't last

The clock tells of a new day as the minute hand chimes along.
The seconds can't be slowed no matter how much I wish them wrong.
You said we'd care for each other but now we're apart.
Our promises were never enough even though you hold my heart.

I remember Mario and 5000 point flags
Kite runners and racing drags
Blue hedgehogs and flying foxes
Pinball and question-mark boxes

I try to put words on paper to define how I feel,
but the words won't come that make it seem real.
I've lived so long without any need,
but I'm living a lie falsehood was my creed.

The sun has gone
It's left our meeting
Here I stand
Still caught dreaming

Is it the crystal blue vase?
Solving an hour long murder case?
Plastic dolls at their doll house rec?
Cheeseburgers coated in shellac?

Leaves

Green veins brim with chlorophyll
It sends color through 'plasts
Life beats with a trees heart
But the color won't last

Soon the cold will come
And freeze away strength
The stem will disconnect
And it will lost it's length

But before the water fades
And the leaves fall low
It will spend the rest of its life
Representing half the rainbow

Fire engine reds wheel by
Sunshine yellows burn
Flaming oranges catch the eye
As we watch and learn

Though their time will expire
And the green glow will fade
The last moments of life
Allow beauty to pervade
