Jared Jones Poems

Love, to me, is futile
We chase it
Like a greyhound
It is a beautiful vase
...

Dark, unlit corridors
A light shines in the distance
As I draw nearer to it
The more it dances away
...

3.

Blessed by the divine
They are used to bring hope to the masses
In the dark
They are used to craft nightmares that endure the years
...

Darkness creeps like a blanket of roaches
It consumes everything in its path regardless of the protections laid forth
The great hall we hide in is sparsely lit with torches to hold back the the threat
We hide in corners away from one another
...

Lies, like heavy stones
Are piled on my back
The weathered leather that binds them
Cuts into my skin
...

Green Skyscrapers dominate the lowlands
Fissures rip wooden giants nearly in twain
Water cuts through muddy canyons
Metal Giants fly by on an ancient, rocky road
...

O' Sweet Oblivion
Come unto me
Writ upon the label
'Jack Daniel's Whiskey'

Eggshells

Love, to me, is futile
We chase it
Like a greyhound
It is a beautiful vase
Made of eggshells
One slip
And the hope contained
Spills out on the cold, uncaring soil
