I feel that I have heard enough of talk of World strife
And what I need is joy and love and peace back in my life
And I must refrain from listening to the radio news and watching T.V.
For rumours of revenge and war is worrying to me.

In Gods of religion no shortage of choice
But one God for all religions that would be nice
The Gods of the Universe trouble create
A Human World without wars for God something to celebrate.

He help the homeless children the children of the street
He give them clothes and shelter he give them food to eat
He try to shield them from police the police no mercy show
And the glue sniffing children of the streets at their hands suffer so.

Though the accent I was raised with in me remains strong
My loyalty to any flag does not belong
Nationalism, Patriotism and Religion can lead men to war
To take on those they see as different in Nations afar,

In India they worship their sacred cow
And in many parts of the World to statues they bow
And billions do pray to their God in the sky
But why many deny their God within one must wonder why?

If there is a god that god is for everyone
And not for the billionaires and their daughter and son
Or not for the elite sports people of the town
Feeling superior in the glow of their public renown
...

Everyone for themselves and God for us all
One of the more cynical sayings that I can recall
Often used by the self centred in their promotion of greed
Their idea if you do help out others in life you won't succeed

I laugh when i hear them say God's on our side
And on our great achievements we can take great pride
Another war victory we can celebrate
But then some of our egos not hard to inflate

No such a thing as God's chosen people if there is a God he's for all
For a God than us would be far greater in our judgements we are so small
God would judge everyone as an equal no matter the Race or the name
The believers or the non believers a true God would treat as the same.

A war about God and a war about Land
The tragic loss of lives I do not understand
A just war in truth is a damnable lie
For in modern day conflicts many civilians do die

Though to the one God everyone does not pray
God helps those who help themselves the more cynical say
But in what they do say there is truth to be found
Since in the Human World greed does seem to abound.

The woman in God's waiting room her hair is silver gray
And she is over ninety and has known a better day
The mynas in the back garden they sing their Winter song
Her days are quiet and lonely and her nights are dark and long.

You say your God is special and you say your God is great
If so a better World for your God you can help to create
Yet those who are different to you those of a different faith
You find it a great struggle to even tolerate

In your search for God I'm sure you will not find
God amongst the covetous, the greedy and unkind
The selfish of the bigger World out there
Who take and take without knowing how to give or to share

If there is a God 'twould seem to me that God would not have a creed
Or would not favour any religious belief such divisive influences a supreme being would not need
Amongst his or her Earthly followers the real God would rule for everyone
A real God would act as a real God should when all is said and done.

You have your God well that does suit me fine
But your God is so different to mine
The God you pray to you never do see
And my Goddess her beauty surrounds me.

And my remains will return to her when life's breath in me die

Searched for him in the woods but did not see him there

You often go to your house of worship for to try to purge your soul of sin
To kneel and pray to your God somewhere out there do you not have a God within?
The God of kindness and compassion does not live in the big World out there
If that is the God you are praying to you are wasting your time and your prayer

You have a God to believe in with me that is okay
And with your family you go to your house of worship for to pray
But does this make a better person out of you
And to your higher self are you one who is true

On looking for God I searched in bush and tree
But Nature's green beauty is all I did see
I looked in the river and I looked in the rill
And I looked in the lake in the vale by the hill

In her early thirties so gentle and wise
The beautiful woman with God in her eyes
I feel that I did speak to a living saint
A person on canvas an artist would love for to paint

If there is a God That God is not for you and yours alone God is for everyone
And for every man and woman and their daughter and their son
When you say God is for you and all of your religion it shows how arrogant you must be
God is in every good living Human Being that's how it would seem to me

The praises of their God so many love to sing
But God 'twould seem to me is a symbolic thing
That the God fearing turn to for to cleanse them of sin
The people who dismiss the existence of any God within

I am arrogant and conceited but my flaws are my own
And why try converting me to your God since the only God I have known
Is not truly perfect or not free of sin
And does go by the name of the God Within.

And better than you would not be hard to find
You pass judgement on those you see as different as if it is your right

Where when you draw your last breath your soul to will fly

You may struggle to get there from where you now are

Some say that after death the soul in the body does not dwell
The good souls go to heaven and the bad souls go to hell
And others believe in our deaths our souls die
What is true to some others see as a lie.

I must tell you mister God will not save your Queen
For obviously her better days in life she has seen
And she is a mere mortal just like you and i
So sooner if not later she is going to die.

If there's a God that God is for everybody and in every good person that God you will find
And if there's a God that God is not judgemental but understanding very wise and kind
The fundimentalists say that their God is a true God and those who pray to other Gods to false Gods pray
The true God than their God must be far kinder a far superior God in every way,

When they say God's on their side to themselves they do lie
And in God's name they kill and in God's name they die
And as they march their National flags they do wave
As they try to define what is truthful and brave.

Many people of the World's greatest religions one common thought do share
They think that they can save their souls from hell by the simple act of prayer
But if there is a God and an afterlife they surely have got it wrong
For God should be for everyone and everyone to God belong.

In name of God they pillage and destroy
And in name of God they chose to fight and die
And their enemies their enemies because
They worship different God with different laws.

It's been nice here in the mountains only 23 degrees
In the shade it's cool and pleasant and the gentlest cooling

For one of self proclaimed devotion his behaviour seems odd
And he is known by many as the man who talks to God
His so called war on terrorism has left thousands of people dead
Of his wars in Afghanistan and Iraq so much written and said.

Many of those who worship you travel to Countries far
And pray to you for victory before they vent their rage in war
And always before bloodshed the prayers to you are said
Before the victims families bury and mourn their dead.

Outside of his church his behaviour seems odd
Of one who is a self proclaimed man of God
Disrespect to the character of those he dislike he does pay
For a devout one he behaves in quite a strange way.

And nailed to a timber cross on Calvary wearing a crown of thorns he died
And a similar fate him would befall were he around today
The good condemned to suffer as some are known to say.

You say your god is the one true god of that how would you know
For that your god is the one true god what proof have you to show
If others say their god is the one true god does that mean they are wrong?
If there is any god at all to god all does belong

I first fell in love with her more than fifty years ago
My green Goddess of Nature the only God i know

They think that to their God they are close but from their God they are further away

You must know God to him have you been talking for according to you death by war God condone
But are you one by sin who is untainted that you should be the first to cast the stone
You say the other side is the guilty party but they see things quite differently to you
And are they not entitled to their opinions for what is true to one to another is untrue?

He goes to his church every sunday and with his church group pray and sing
And he feels he is bound for heaven since by his God he is doing the right thing
But he overlook one thing important that God does not live out there God lives within
And despite of how he feels about himself he is not the greatest of men.

God is for the wealthy and famous that is of course if there's a God?
But not for the poor and the homeless and not for the hungry and down trod
Yet many so many poor people to the God of their religion pray
But their God only seems to ignore them whilst they grow poorer by the day.
