For God, Flag And Country Poem by Francis Duggan

For God, Flag And Country

Rating: 4.3

Though the accent I was raised with in me remains strong
My loyalty to any flag does not belong
Nationalism, Patriotism and Religion can lead men to war
To take on those they see as different in Nations afar,
Government leaders to cling to power create us against they
Their enemies from their shores can live far away
For God and for Country we've heard that one before
As long as Nations have borders war will be forever more
The praises of war leaders many may like to sing
But a good war leader is there such a thing
Those who stand to gain most from it war do promote
The so called worthy people not worthy of note
People we do not know how can we wish them ill
Though for God, Flag and Country some do shoot to kill.
