I really thought you a friend.
I thought you were spun by the gods.
A golden thread to help mend
My broken heart against all odds.

Stark black twigs against the sky
Trees stripped Spartan-like all bare
Frosty leaves on the ground lie
The moon shines through the cold air

The story starts with Echo's love for talk
A curse was laid on her which took away
Her speech, all she could do was repeat talk
Directed at her, that's all she could say

Spring will faithfully come,
Bringing with it new hope,
Making my glad heart thrum,
Better able to cope

I have only one song by Prince
He sings it so beautifully
And I have loved it ever since
I heard it sung so wistfully

God is good God is everywhere
God is good God loves us all
God is good God cares for all
God is good God is everywhere

The cherry blossoms have begun their bloom.
The sun was lighting the tops of the trees
And though the streets were in shade, any gloom
Was gone, as pink flowers waved in the breeze.

A cat by a tree
A sparrow chirps happily
Only feathers left

Face white he came running in
From his mouth a loud shriek
What is it? I cried
In baby Cypriot Greek he replied

Today's thought is about how to behave
Maybe you think honesty a virtue
But think before you are honesty's slave
Don't say hurtful things, even if they're true

I was watching West Side Story
And was gob smacked by its freshness
It’s over half a century
Old yet it has such directness

Blow wind blow, blow the autumn leaves around
Blow and make them swirl high from the low ground
Make them dancing dervishes in the air
Let them revel without a single care

Under the grassy mossy blanket - Rest
Tearing searing pain can never again
Touch your brief brightly burning brilliance
You are locked in Earth's sheltered embrace - Rest

Turn up the hi-fi to maximum
You cannot listen to Beethoven
Turned down to a paltry minimum
For he is music's Leviathan

I am sitting here in my room
I am waiting for a call
To go walking but I assume
We will not be going at all

It’s a difficult decision
To take or not to take her
I may be in for derision
If I take or not take her

A picture treasured is when you appeared
In front of me (in years so far away) .
An instant love was born and I revered
Your form and soul on that auspicious day.

In all the languages we humans speak
There are no words to describe how I feel
Not in English nor French nor even Greek,
I have a sadness that time cannot heal.

A False Friend

I really thought you a friend.
I thought you were spun by the gods.
A golden thread to help mend
My broken heart against all odds.

I really thought you a friend.
I see you glistening like gold,
And when I think you’ll extend
Your help, you are just so, so cold.

You are this thing they call hope.
You are supposed to be my friend
And help me to better cope
With my life right up to the end.

But I see you’re a false friend.
I realise this now I’m old.
You deceive me and pretend
To help me, but you’re a fool’s gold.
