Rest Poem by Elia Michael

Rest

Rating: 5.0

Under the grassy mossy blanket - Rest
Tearing searing pain can never again
Touch your brief brightly burning brilliance
You are locked in Earth's sheltered embrace - Rest

Let a thousand white winter swirling snows
Let a thousand drops of spring-scented rain
Let a thousand summers of bright gold glows
And endless fall mists adorn your terrain

These are the ones who comfort you now - Rest
For Earth welcomes you with her smiling face
She has taken you in her fond embrace
For age upon age - eternity - Rest

I am assuming this requiem is for a dearly departed fiend or family member. I enjoyed the repetition of rest in the first and last stanza at the first and forth lines and the use of 4 lines per stanza and the use of 3 stanzas with the 4 seasons comprising the middle stanza. Symbolic of the seasons of life and the 3 stanzas indicative of the 3 stages of life as youth, mature and old age. A finely crafted piece.

A beautiful poem, free flowing words emanating from the poet's heart, touch those of others.10/10.
