Clyde Watanabe Poems

A friend's husband died in an auto accident. When cruel realities of this world take away a loved one, how do we fill the emptiness inside? Where does our hope and help come from? How do we fill the loss in our lives?

If life is like a flower, mine has withered and died
My tears they flow like rivers, can't open my eyes
...

Somber moments of life
with the uncertainty of change
Knees are trembling
Heart feels so weak?
...

You just caught a glimpse of reality spoken
softly whispered for years to your ears
Somehow deafened by the calls of your world
a voice now murmurs deep in your heart
...

Do we ever really notice
the many faces of love?
Not just romantic and sweet
Not just kindness and affection
...

Yeah, I know I done a lot of stuff
Wasn't just the wrong place, wrong time
Like so many in the 'hood
Getting into trouble was easy when younger
...

Raging storms
Quest to ease unrest
Chasing dreams of yesteryear
Broken dreams each time I shed a tear
...

How do you wait so patiently
How do you wait for imperfect me
Why do you prepare the best for me
When I turn around and flee
...

Run run running
I’m running away
Run run running
Can’t even pray
...

Clyde Watanabe Biography

The desire to write never manifested itself until recovering from a life-threatening illness in 2005. A need to collect my thoughts and feelings to pass on to my family and inspirations of my faith in God gave birth to my journey of writing. Today, the Christian Poet and his family serve the poor and needy on the streets of Oklahoma City each week. Some of his current poetry reflect upon this journey. Life is such a journey. From Hawaii to Los Angeles, Ca to Bakersfield, Ca to Yukon, Ok. From childhood days of school, bowling and fishing to college and work and travel. From searching and wondering to a place of security, hope, and peace. May the inspirations of my pen be a reflection of love, mercy, and grace and bring a reader's heart in touch with my loving God.)

No song can fill my heart, there is nothing to sing
Sorrow hovers over me and everything

This cruel world, it steals away my love
My world, my life, my hope, flowing out to sea
I thirst for love, I thirst for your embrace
I yearn for peace, I yearn for your loving face.

Can I lift my eyes?
Heavy laden with tears
Can I lift my heart?
I can't even start

I need you so, so desperately
I need you now, I need your touch
I need your strength, I need your hand
I just have to understand

But I trust in You, how I trust in You
Father of Mercy, Father of Grace
With all thexe mixed emotions
I cling to my heart's devotion

This season of my life will come to pass
You will sead me through the valley
Lead me from my misery, hurt and pain
So someday I can hear this refrain

When I needed You so desperately
You reachedd out with your loving touch
You held me with your strong, strong hand
until I could understand

How my trust in You carried me
You wiped away my tears, shed my fears
Restored my hope, my love, my heart
For eternity, we will never be apart
