Running Away Poem by Clyde Watanabe

Running Away

Run run running
I’m running away
Run run running
Can’t even pray

Every whiskey bottle
Never quenched my thirst
Every dream I chased
My bubble just burst

I’ve been beat down
Thrown around
Slammed to the ground
What’s the use in trying
I ‘m just dying

Searching for hope
It wasn’t in the dope
Never had any joy
It died as a boy

Run run running
I’m running away
Run run running
Can’t even pray

There’s no good life
It’s not in the cards
I deserve what I get
A life of regret

Running from love
Because loving just hurts
Running from everything
To avoid the sting

Every good I ever tasted
Just turned sour
and turned out wasted
So don’t waste your time on me

I just keep on running
I’m running away
Run run running
Can’t even pray

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Is there hope for the hopeless? Some have given up on themselves, carved out a life of no responsibility. Not having responsibilities means not letting anyone down. Not having expectations means not being let down. Not being loved means no love lost. Alienating themselves from family and friends. Some feel alienated from God.When life has taken such a toll that you don’t want to even reach out for help, are you just lost and forgotten? Instead of just a hand out, what if folks would give a hand up.Perhaps miracles start when
a hand dares to reach out to touch that says I care
