Yolanda Aderele Poems

I'm starting to forget things about you
like the sound of your voice and the way you use to look at me
I struggle to remember a joke that you told
or what your favorite anything was
...

I cannot describe to you
How good this man makes me feel

See,

I know thousands of words,
But they ALL escape me
...

I imagine his tears taste sweet instead of salty like the sea, not sweet

like candy but sweet nonetheless his caress was like honeysuckle
...

Thank you Robert
For being so kind
Your words of encouragement
Are right on time
...

He say he likes the way I write......
The way I swing my hips from left to right
likes how I curve my y's and dot my i's
How I thread my words with truth, not lies
...

Forgetting

I'm starting to forget things about you
like the sound of your voice and the way you use to look at me
I struggle to remember a joke that you told
or what your favorite anything was
so long ago you left me and so many moments in between
I shudder at the thought of what it really means

I don't want to forget you like you were never there
because the complete opposite is true you were once
my everything
please forgive me for forgetting the things
I never thought I would
I'll try with all my might to remember things like:
your love, your smell, your hug, the way you waved your hand
these other things I'll hold on to it if I can
I'll always love you though- I promise
