William Brooks Poems

Goodnight, my angel
Time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
...

A fall into disparity with a bleeding stone.
Quickly eaten by the torment of words that are not his own.
He was soon nothing but a shell,
A hollow husk of what was once a man.
...

I see how much you don't care
And it tears at my heart.
I see you walking away
And it makes me want to restart.
...

I have found the meaning for life
Laying just below the surface,
Hidden in your eyes.
I see your face shine through the haze.
...

(How! Why)
I had it planned out!
You spat it in my face.
You laughed behind my back.
...

6.

I see you...
Hiding in your indecision.
Trying not to lose yourself.
Trying so hard not to ask for help.
...

Everytime I'm around you,
My brain fails
My heart falls.
Breath becomes arrested.
...

I see it. The reason why I dropped us.
I never meant for it to hurt you.
I never thought it was true.
Now I can't stop the ground.
...

If only you could see this,
How much I need this.
It is part my fault for not telling you,
For keeping my distance.
...

As I'm in my room alone and in the dark
My thoughts start to wonder as I lie awake.
Thinking of you, wishing I had the strength, the courage
To someday ask for your hand in marriage.
...

The lightning flashes, the thunder claps
Trying to trace its way back
To where the lies all began.
...

12.

(Let me use you!)
So I can breathe.
(Let me dropp you!)
So I can run from this pain.
...

I fell so hard for you I can't move.
I would rather be broken and with you
Than stand hollow all the way through,
An empty void, without.
...

Don't bother looking for me tomorrow,
I won't be there.
Don't bother calling me,
I won't answer.
...

Roses are red,
Hearts are too.
The only thing I want this Valentine's Day,
Is to be with you.
...

The summer’s high rise,
Brings the moon’s low tides.
The land starving from the drought,
Every step on the thin ice, another doubt.
...

In my dark, dark world she's the Sun. The only source of light and warmth.
Without her grace being shone upon me, I'd be lost in the dark, left to wonder aimlessly till the end of my world.
Without her warmth my world is just an ice covered, light less wilderness.
Filled with the demons of time and human imperfection.

The Best Poem Of William Brooks

Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)

Goodnight, my angel
Time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Wherever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay
And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark
And deep inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry
And if you sing this lullaby
Then in your heart
There will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabies go on and on...
They never die
That's how you
And I
Will be
