birthday greetings to a noble brother turning 75...
&
...
I ANSWER THE CALL TO MY CELL PHONE IN MY HEART-
O IT IS THE CALL FROM THE MESSENGER OF DEATH;
HE SAYS, ' I AM ON MY MISSION TO YOUR HEART! '
I SENSE A TINY FIREBALL OF PAIN ROLLING IN MY HEART;
...
everything gets reflected in me-
the sky, the rolling clouds
...
come to me
in my complexion -
not on your moon-like skin
and sun and star-like glories;
...
In the morning skies
shapely virgin clouds
in their best of postures
stand inviting attention!
...
O my Merry Moon born in me!
Do not leave without telling me
If that naughty moon
...
how many deviations a life's journey takes on on its onward march,
attracted to all and sundry sweet things, like bees, on its way-
a hop here, a bite there, a suck elsewhere, and a flight to something else;
quite puzzled to select its haunt, it reels in pain of defeat and non-achievement;
...
The playful Breeze touching me softly passes on;
Tells sweet tales in hush-hush voice in my ears;
Removes all my weariness with its healing hugs;
Calls me to close my eyes to sing my dear melodies;
...
the thick-foliaged trees remain
in heavy silence as if in mourning-
do they? no, i am wrong;
beneath their stillness of a statue
...
when my heart deeply pines for you
o my dear, why all the birds
...
o universe in your sweet whirls
shout into my ears 'i love you! '
my eyes are small
can't hold you in full measure -
...
Mother..!
You could not have left us from this world
Though you met with that final knock of death ten years ago,
All the time lamenting ' I have lived my life fully

எப்படிப் பாடுகிறாய் என்பது நான் அறிகிலன்;
உலகினுக்கு ஒளி தீட்டுகிறது;
வானங்களிடை ஓடித் திரிகிறது;
என் இதயம் விழைகிறது;
வீணே வியர்க்கிறது;
நான் பேசக்கூடும்;
பாடலாக வடிவு எடுப்பதில்லை;

I KNOW NOT HOW THOU SINGEST, MY MASTER!
I ever listen in silent amazement.
the light of thy music illumines the world.
the life breath of thy music runs from sky to sky.
the holy stream of thy music breaks through all stony obstacles
and rushes on.
my heart longs to join in thy song
but vainly struggles for a voice.
I would speak, but speech breaks not into song,
and I cry out baffled.
ah, thou hast made my heart captive in the endless meshes of thy music, my master!
