Branko Maleš, poet and essayist, was born on January 18, 1949 in Zagreb. He was educated in Zagreb where, having finished grammar school, he studied at the Faculties of Technology and of Philosophy. From the latter he graduated in Yugoslav languages and literatures and in comparative literature.
As editor of literary and cultural journals - Off, The Bridge, Republika, Oko, Heroina – Maleš has been exceptionally sensible towards most recent literary phenomena. His writings include poetry, fiction, plays, esays, criticism and cultural feuilletons.
