Zilch! ! ! Poem by nikhil ian

Zilch! ! !

Feeling so lost in a world of strangeness
I lock myself to complete darkness
Killing me slowly as it creeps within
I am hanging on to a ray of hope that feels so thin

Gone are the days when smiles were so innocent
With no hidden meanings words were the same as they were meant
Days when you didn’t know how to think from your heart
And how bad it felt when your trust was ripped apart
Gone are the days when you didn’t care of the latest trend
All you needed was no money just a couple of friends and a day to spend

Walking down the lane I have a look around
Walking down the lane this is what I found
Faces filled with worries and so many questions unanswered
Hunger killing children and yet nobody seems to be bothered
Carrying a bag of thoughts everyday
Some with broken families and some got bills to pay
With responsibilities crushing every inch of the shoulder
Day feels so hot and night just gets more colder
This is how we live as weird may as it sound
Walking down the lane this is what I found

May be the child in me is far gone
But the adult in me is yet to be born
May be I should stay more close to the wall
So that I have something to hold on every time I fall
Always thought growing older meant growing up
Never expected the childhood days I had to give up
All I do now is to sit and frown
Trying to swim in an ocean of thoughts, every time I drown
May be its too early to decide or May be its too late to think
Sometimes I forget to breath, my eyes go blur and I realize I have to blink

Looking into the mirror I miss my childishness
Which once departed and left behind a trail of selfishness
Things haven’t changed much since I was a kid
Nothing much I learnt, I have nothing much to bid
Never knew who I am or which way to take
Still got no answer except for a couple of smiles to fake
Life just seems so flawed, decisions are hard to make
Living in a world of dead yet I manage to stay awake
