Your Land Now Poem by Kelly McG

Your Land Now

As I look outside
I see the world has changed
Has anyone noticed?
Will they ever learn?

The flowers have wilted
The trees gone brown
Where is the sky?
And where is the ground?

Where is the sun?
And where is the moon?
Why did they leave us?
Will they be back soon?

I can’t find my dog
Who was once by my side
He has left me alone
With the wind and the tide

Look over your shoulder
What do you see?
It’s not what you wanted
And it’s not what should be

Take my hand
We’ll run away
It’s their land now
They can do what they may

We will grow
And make anew
Turn the ground green
And the sky blue

We’ll look across
And see what they turned
Have they yet noticed?
Will they ever learn?
