You Were Poem by Marketa Richnavska

You Were

You were my gate to the light of life
even though you threw a shadow,
I was the moon to your sun
and a hammer to your nail
and flower to your meadow

You gave me all you had
and I took it with all my might
but the time goes by
and people come and go
and you have got lost from my sight

I hope you feel it such
that it all was meant for good
I hope you see
that it's okay
that you don't stay where you stood.

Weren't it for you
I would have never got this far
in anything
anywhere
with anyone.

So just stop being angry
and try to take it calm-
my jokes and fun
and pointless curses
were never meant to harm.
