Standin’ here with you
Hand in hand
Before an ocean of blue
On that California sand
You made our dreams come true

*You took me away
From that small town
You told me to pack my stuff
Cause from now on it was just the two of us
You loaded it all in the back of your truck
Not a moment too late
We were drivin’ down the interstate
Makin’ our way home
Where we wouldn’t be alone
You took me away

When we got here
It was dark outside
& the first thing I saw were those city lights
& I was so scared
I was your little country girl
& you brought me to this brand new world
& you looked at me
& dropped down on one knee
Then you said

From that hard life
I told you we were leavin’
& at first you didn’t believe it
& now it’s time
To call you mine
Will you be my wife?
Yea I took you away
