you promised me forever
but little did I know,
forever only lasts 4 weeks
&then its time to go.

you promised me a year
but silly of me to think
a year was shortened when I was sleeping
& its time to wake up and blink.

you promised me a month
but surely that didnt last
I never knew that a whole month
would come and go so fast.

you promised me a week
a measly 7 days
but I stayed around hoping
that you would change your ways.

you promised me a day
so with the 24 hours I kept,
I spent it wondering what happened to forever
& after that I wept.

if you promised me a minute
I know what i'd do with the time,
I'd use up all 60 seconds
glad that you were mine.
