You Don't Remember Me Poem by Randy McClave

You Don't Remember Me

I remember you, but you don't remember me
You drank coffee, and I drank tea,
You liked your drink with sugar and I did not
Your drink was always warm, while mine was very hot.
I stood 5 foot 11 and you stood about 5 foot 6
I still remember how you didn't like your passport pics.
You enjoyed showing off your body and your every tat
I also remember you showing me, were you were fat.
On the bed I slept on the left and you slept on the right
I still remember how you enjoyed spooning with great delight,
I remember your toothbrush and hairbrush which were blue
And how every night to me you said, "I Love You"!
My eyes are brown and your eyes are green
I was always happy when together we were seen.
I still remember you on our very first date
Of course I was early, and you were fashionable late.
I remember how you were not a morning person
When I try to wake you up, you'd end up mad and cursin'
Then you told me that your ex would never let you sleep
And how his children and his ex wife always made you weep.
I remember that first night that you came to my house
You were very nervous and excited and wearing a nurse's blouse,
I remember that exact time to the minute and the hour
That is when you got naked, and together we took a shower.
I also remember when you told me that we were a couple no more
And when you packed up your lingerie from my dresser drawer,
Then your words and statements became lies and all twisted
When you told everyone, that I, and our love never, ever existed.
I remember us on your birthday and Christmas for the first time
And how on New Years we kissed while the bells did chime,
Those moments that I keep will make a very sad and hurtful memory;
Because, I still remember you, but you don't remember me.
