Yes, I Laugh Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Yes, I Laugh

Yes, I laugh

The rumour had it that:
"He married Princess? "

He, prince of Iran
(If the things had remained
And revolt not happened,)
Had married princess
(Her father I knew.)

I shook hands with him when
Was the king of Jordan…

The rumour and the facts
Turned to the carpet of
Prophet Suleiman…

On magic carpet, I
Sat, flew to sky;
Took a leap into time.

History came alive
Romanian Ceausescu
And the Shah of Iran,
Our flight to Russia…

"If this is communism
I am out, I am out…"
I said then, remember
As heard of Andre Gide's:
"Return from the USSR"

And I laughed!
And I laughed!
And I laughed!

Felt like ball in the court
On the sides of the net
Hit and pushed by rackets
Of tennis, Agassi, Bianca.

And I laughed!
