Yelling Poem by Laura Carie Dalton

Yelling

Why did I get yelled at tonight?

Was it because of my personality?

NO, I was laughing from what I wrote.

The Sgt. Was making me laugh more.

It was hard to control it.

Then the Commander of Cadets said,
“Chambers.”

I froze.

I knew I had crossed the line.

I bit my lip,
Thus not to cry.

My eyes started to water.

I kept my composure.

I think I’m not gonna laugh anymore tonight.

I want to but I don’t want to get into trouble.

I’ll laugh another time.

Not tonight.

Not tonight.
