You Poem by Laura Carie Dalton

You

You came last night.
You brought pizza.
You stood in the rain while I ate.

As I watch you,
I couldn’t help but notice.
How amazing you are.

I wanted to hug you.
I wanted to kiss you.
But I was afraid.

I wanted to have our fingers
Intertwining as we talk,
And as we kiss.

I got butterflies in my stomach
As you touched my face.
Your soft hands moved my hair.

I enjoy your company.
I didn’t want you to leave.
I wanted to stay with you.

I didn’t want this night to end.
You told me your secrets,
I told you mine.

It’s hard letting you go.
Each time it gets harder and harder.
I never want to let go.

I look in your eyes.
I see pain.
I see a friend.

I want to hold your gaze.
It’s hard.
Your eyes look so passionate.

Why does it seem like
You look out for me?
Just like a brother would.

I would like to get close to you.
Really close.
Close enough that we might kiss.

Your eyes are intoxicating.
I can’t look away.
I don’t have any reason to look away.

I miss you.
