Writers' Block Poem by Sandra Martyres

Writers' Block

Rating: 4.6

The blank screen
Stares me in the face
What should I write about
A poem on love
Or a story on the same subject?
Ideas rush through my mind
At the speed of light
My fingers cannot keep pace
As the thoughts just race
Then all I see is only a confused mass
Of stray ideas that make neither
A fine poem nor an interesting tale
So I need to fold up my laptop
And type again at a later date
When I have a nice poem to recite
Or a proper story to relate

I just wish I had the presence of mind to stop writing when, as you say, there are too many flashes of ideas that don't mix well and do not lead into good poetry..but alas I am far too stubborn. (and isn't that blank screen so intimidating? far worse than a haunted house could be) smile Patti

ha ha..love this.Sandra. I am always ready with a pen and paper whenever i have some ideas to write, a song heard on the radio, or just a passing word on my mind and it helps. You are a real talent..what with all this writing, guess, you haven't yet experienced a writer's block
