Wounds Poem by Jade Deakins

Wounds

Let me bare your bones beneath my skin
I want to feel what you feel
I itch to unfasten the wounds you bind with safety pins
Your unbearable sorrows, the cuts so deep delaying time of its heal
If you promise to lay with me sweetheart I'll forgive your unholy sins
The unforgivable acts fueled from amphetamines which distorted the real
I want to locate every freckle, mark and scar that you carry on your skin
I want to see the vulnerable you, the hidden you, that your God sent smile conceals
If you ever changed the way you looked at me i'm not entirely sure I'd survive
If you know but only one thing darling before we both die
No amount of eloquent words I piece together will tell you
It's you that keeps me alive
