Worry Poem by Francis Duggan

Worry

The future for all is uncertain though each of us do have a past
And every day that we live to see is one day nearer to our last
And each day one day nearer to our date with the reaper and each hour to our last hour is near
And you'll die if you are a teetotaller and you'll die if you enjoy your beer.

So many weighted down with their cares and their worries they make themselves ill with their stress
To laugh to them is such a hard thing they always seem under duress
And worrying it can give you cancer and give you a horrible end
and worry an ally of the reaper to none other it is a friend.

The more successful that some do become the more worries they seem to know
Their successful business is growing but with it their problems too grow
Others look on them as quite successful though happiness they cannot find
Money guarantees you security though it cannot buy you peace of mind.

Had I the choice to be wealthy or be poor I would opt for the former I'm sure
For though money may not make me happy it would make me financially secure
And I could buy gifts for people that I like when poor only your friendship you can give
And though money may give you worries we need it for to eat and to live.
