Word Poem by Prabhakar Subramaniam

Word

Silence is not always consent
It could be a loss of words
Even a loss of faith in words
Perhaps, a pause, for something else
To bear witness, reveal itself
When more than truth, is at stake
The lies laugh, reverberate
Clap hands, mock, berate
As the head hangs, lips sealed
Looking within, at what is revealed
The questions hang in the air
The answers stir, somewhere, elsewhere,
Where all words are heard - -
Words will meet words
As at the beginning
So at the end
And then there will be just the Word
