Wolf's Heart Poem by Denise Zhou

Wolf's Heart

Rating: 3.5

You have
a Wolf's Heart
Steel and iron,
hardened by the bitter ice
of survival.

In your hunt,
you forget to embrace
things you love.
In blood and gore,
you survive.
But life is not life
when you have a
Wolf's Heart.

Thick fur,
so nobody can ever touch your heart,
melt the frozen uncaring
that life has planted
inside you.

Cold eyes,
a window to the soul, they say,
but all I see
is ice.

Is your spirit
really so dead
yet alive
that even your soul
is frosted over
with the snow of hardship?

If only
I could reach out
with a warm hand
and soften your metal heart,
blanket your soul
with warmth
and train your Wolf's Heart
to love again.

Too bad that I am only dreaming
and dreams are just that-
images of victory;
wishes of silly things
that never come true.

I know of someone who once said,
'I'm a dreamer.
I have to dream and reach for the stars,
and if I miss a star then I grab a handful of clouds.'
But when the stars have faded,
and the clouds
are gray and cold,
what is there
to reach for?

So I guess
you'll always have
a Wolf's Heart.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I love wolves and had to read. I hope that this person does not have a wolf's heart. A wolf is one of the creature that mates for life. So, if they have loved before, they may never love again. I wish you hope and happiness. But before all of that I think his is a passionate write.
