Wishful Thinking Poem by Lora Colon

Wishful Thinking

Rating: 5.0

How I pray just to hold him close
And tell him how I care,
Just once, to hold him in my arms....
Would God answer such a prayer!

How I wish I could kiss his lips
And taste the nectar there,
Just once, to feel his lips on mine....
But wishing only brings despair

How I long to touch his face
And look into his eyes,
Just once, to be that close to him...
But my longing hides and cries

How I yearn to feel his breath,
Like a spirit, encircling me.....
A gossamer shroud of gentle love,
O, yearning, you're my ecstasy!

Wishful thinking.... that's all it is,
Transparent coatings of veneer,
Reality makes its presence known,
Dreams flake away and disappear.....

Wow! Another '10' from the peanut gallery as Lora brings home another Gold for Team Poetry USA! Seriously there are peanuts flying everywhere folks! Wish I had an umbrella, I could catch enough to open up my own concession stand! ? (Talk about wishful thinking!) There must be at least a dozen even better dreams standing in line waiting just waiting for a chance if this dream flakes out Lora!

Just show him this very beautiful poem and perhaps that wishful thinking might become a reality. A touchingly, wistful and enchanting write-10

A touchy poem. How deftly you can express your sensitivity! I am deeply moved by the innocent wishes and the sigh of despair upon realization that the wishes and the wishful thoughts would go unfulfilled. 'Would God answer such a prayer! ' - God has His own scheme of things. Such prayers are usually answered only in dreams. 'But wishing only brings despair' - Ability to move on in life, amid despair and despondency, with unfulfilled wishes, is a measure of purity of the craving soul. 'But my longing hides and cries' - Ditto. 'Reality makes its presence known, Dreams flake away and disappear.....' - Life goes on! Cheer up, dear poet! Life has its other offerings to unfold. 10/10 for this heart touching poem.
