Winter Memory Poem by Jeff Stoddart

Winter Memory

It was seven Christmases from my beginning, as greenfields turned to snow
My childseyes filled with wonder in that land of long ago
My heart beat loud and faster as Xmas I espied.....
And the magic of that moment, it has never left my side.

Though many years have passed since that magic time began
And memories enriched the life of me as boy and man
Always they gave me hope, when hopelessness returned
And through all times of pain and doubt the boy within me yearned
For simple pleasures long since gone, then given up for free
Holding hands on Xmas eve, giving hope to you and me.
We never ever can return to days long gone and passed
But we must hope that better days will come, and they will last

Untill we all remember, forgetting pain and sorrow
For our children these are the Christmasses they'ltalk about tomorrow.
