Winter—here It Comes Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Winter—here It Comes

Rating: 5.0

Change is in the air
Exemplified by a chill
A vaporous breath is expelled
Hopes for balmy days go downhill

The forecast is for flurries
Mindful thoughts concentrate
On slowing the inevitable
As intuitive birds migrate

What is left of summer’s warmth…
Only wisps of faint recollections
Caught up in a gust of wind
As numbing skin seeks protection

Retreating indoors to avoid freezing
Time for cuddling, cooking and crafts
Searching for cozy winter clothing
To insulate from penetrating drafts

I agree with Marilyn, and echo what she said. Winter is the time for baking bread, cookies, pies, cakes, gingerbread men. We have our Thanksgiving, and then we decorate the tree, and sing joyous Christmas Carols while we sip hot cocoa. erm with marshmallows even.: P And for those with nice fire places, can sit by it telling stories of Angels at Christmas time. Be sure to wrap that scarf around your face, so it doesn't get cold. Bundle up warm cause here comes old man winter. Thank you for sharing Theresa. A 10 for this. Hugs, Barbara

Yes, our warm summer is over and now it's time to find inside activities to keep us occupied by the fire and get ready for the holidays. Lovely poem, Theresa, a '10! ' from me. 'Warm' Wishes, Marilyn
