Wilderness Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Wilderness

I await your crystal words
I no longer belong to the earth
Home is a frontier of the heart
These towns disappear like fog
Now the stars form a poem
Barren and desolate rhymes
Thorns from the pride of life
Wounded in a dark cave

Am I pruned in the garden or lost?
The light burns
Everyone seems distant and estranged
Beauty is alive in my pain
World of empty vessels
Symbols speak
The sea is music
Deep in the desert alone with night

Plagues with vials
Oil and sanctification
Scrolls on ancient papyrus
Gold and silver
Purple, scarlet and blue
Stones
Mountains and fire
Wilderness
