Wild Heart Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Wild Heart

Melody like whispering rivers
She supports her son amidst wolves
Her smile like a jungle angel
Tender as a mother
Survival is a wise lion
Vicious like a cold wind
Tactful as an antique lamp
The gate is narrow and true
Traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge
Tonight all the takers talk and wait
She has heard it all a million times
She tells them all their fortunes
She hunts like a fallen angel
I tell her, baby, I’m real
She says yeah, prove it
She takes the subway to the Bronx
Finding hearts amidst these neon fields
Eve has left the garden long ago
Search your soul for love is a wild heart
