Wide Open Spaces Poem by Marilyn Lott

Wide Open Spaces

Rating: 5.0

How I love the wide open spaces
No fences to keep animals inside
Cattle out on the open range
When down the road I ride

Nothing but fields for many miles
You can’t help but wonder what’s there
Antelope, deer or perhaps a moose?
And I’m sure you can find a stray bear

Freedom is what it calls to me
Freedom to roam where you will
The air is fresh and pungent
Quiet and amazingly still

Just when you think there is nothing
Out pops and animal or two
It never stops to amaze me
And I know it will amaze you too

You can imagine a herd of cows
Or a Buffalo along with her calf
Or two babies romping and playing
You suddenly break out into a laugh

Yep, the wide open spaces are perfect
Especially for a country girl like me
Even when I’m in the big city
It’s the country where I want to be!
