Why Can'T You See That She's Dying On The Inside? Poem by Sara Hol

Why Can'T You See That She's Dying On The Inside?

Rating: 5.0

The scars and cuts are hidden, invisible,
the pain; a repeat of unbearable
no one to the human eye
can see that the little girl did cry,
she had hidden all of her tears
extremely well over the years.

Feeling numb and always reliving the pain
hoping to cleanse her soul with the sensation of the rain,
nobody notices the clouds in her eyes
each day spent with unbroken goodbyes.

Lying awake for hours throughout the night
her only company unwanted thoughts, she avoids the light,
she does not wake until late afternoon
because she stayed up, persistent to watch the moon,
soaking in its soft, pale yellow rays
trying to settle the want to end her days.

A smile so big, and blue eyes filled with light,
yet she cries her heart out every single night...
to everyone she seems as happy as one could be
but on the inside she is dying, can't you see?
