Why? Poem by Heidi Cooper

Why?

Rating: 5.0

I saw her lying there,
So still. So lifeless.
Please, let it be a dream I cried
My emotions i could not hide.

Her face so serene,
as if she were sleeping.
I was stuck in a bad dream,
my voice was gone and I couldnt scream.

God give her back
I need her to stay
My mother was my best friend
You've taken her out of my hands.

To see her smile again,
Hear her girlish laugh.
Oh why did she have to go
You have ripped away my soul.

I can still smell her perfume,
And feel her hugs so warm.
But you took it all away from me,
Now im plagued by misery.

I feel like im dying,
But all i do is cry.
I know she is within my heart,
But why from earth did she part?

I'd give anything
To have her back
I'd even take her place,
Just to see her smiling face.

I miss her so much,
I wont forget.
How precious her life was
My words are at a loss.

The pain isnt easy,
I fight just to carry on.
But mom would be urging me
To live my life happily.
