While The World Sleeps Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

While The World Sleeps

In the quiet morning rain,
I hold on to you and share
Kisses, tender as in between,
We whisper secrets of yesterdays
That do not compare to to this
New love we have found.
In these quiet moments, I give thanks
For the joy we share as we try not to stumble,
Finding our way to this new love with new
Passions and a renewed spirit to love and
Be loved in truth and gladness.
Even now, as the rain stops, I lull away
In tranquil thoughts that nourish my heart
Reminding me that it is wonderful to love
So freely without inhibitions which play
With mind and spirit.
We are peaceful now, having put to rest
Yesterday's turmoil, with new understanding
Of this love we share and cherish.
I dedicate to you, all the songs of long ago
That speak of love and rewrite poems real and
Imagined, in the deepest part of me that wrote a love poem
Caressed and kissed, with one breath of your sigh!
