Where...Were You Yesterday When I Needed You Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Where...Were You Yesterday When I Needed You

Rating: 4.0

If only we had met yesterday
When love was new to both of us
And untarnished...
And dreams fashioned by hope and laughter
Were made without question
And rose colored glasses were not a joke.
If only we had met yesterday
When in our youth, 'promises were made
To be broken' was not the rule,
And the ache in our hearts was made
By cupid's arrow answering a call to love.
Yesterday, it was so simple to pull the
Petals from a daisy,
And he loves me was always the last petal
to be polled.
Today, the daisies won't tell.
Today, you belong to another!
Where were you yesterday when I needed you?

A deeply moving poem, full of loving and sadness. 'Today the daisies won't tell' - what a beautiful line. Love, Magda

When I read your comment on one of mine, I knew that you could write. As I read this poem, I am delighted to discover that I was right. This piece is beautifully expressed - romantic without being sentimental and most satisfying in its phrasing and language. An enchanting poem that beings a tear. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
