When Young I Loved Reading The Poetry Poem by Shalom Freedman

When Young I Loved Reading The Poetry

When young I loved reading the poetry
Memorizing the lines
Taking it into myself
And I loved carrying those lines within me-

All my life
And still now
In my old age
I hear it within me
And love to learn more lines
And to learn again those half- forgotten
Or never remembered rightly-

Poetry is in my soul
And will be with me
For as long as I am here.
