When You Pray Tonight Poem by Dorsey Baker

When You Pray Tonight

Baby its hard to live the truth
but its so much harder
when you live a lie
baby when you pray tonight
don't forget to pray for me

Baby you don't know
how long I've been running
how long I've been
hiding myself from the light
Baby when you pray tonight
don't forget to pray for me

You just don't know
how hard
my heart is breaking
how many secrets
I've kept in my mind
Baby when you pray tonight
don't forget
to pray for me
I've got suffering
I've go pain
I've got misery
Baby when you pray tonight
don't forget
to pray for me!

Wow! This is so impacting, I'm almost scared to ask what the speaker's woes and tribulations are. All the same this is an impressive write. It reminds me of poems by Langston Hughes, it's got a jazzy/blues rhythm to it. Perhaps this could even be used as a song.
