When I left this morning
your hair
was in shining disarray
your features
soft and sleepy
your mouth
a smile of contentment
and your contours
molded by the sheet.
I kissed you lightly
said 'have a good day'
and you purred 'mmmmm.'
Now at work I dream you'd call:
'Tell them that I need you home
and wait for me outside.'
Then all would be
intensified, slowed down—
your driving
while you held me in your eyes
our moving
from the car inside
and the click that's followed
by the music of Jobim—
a cue for me to dance with you.
Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim (January 25,1927 – December 8,1994) , also known as Tom Jobim was a Brazilian composer, pianist, songwriter, ...this guy? (cont.) though Pome** rhymes with Home, could you have meant Poem? ? :) ** In botany, a pome (derived from Latin pōmum, meaning fruit) is a type of fruit line 12: move. to the end. ha ha. maybe PH 'did it'? i esp. enjoyed the first 1/2 of poem. why is christian listed as a topic? to MyPoemList. bri :)
thanks for reading and commenting, bri. pome is intentional, but it is of course a poem. christian is listed as a topic because marriage and enjoyment in it is also part of God's design. -glen
