When I First Saw You Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

When I First Saw You

When I first,
Saw you...
I thought my heart would stop,
Beating!
I felt my legs trimble,
As if they would drop...
From beneath me,
Easily.
When I first,
Saw you.

And when I first saw you...
My breath from me would seem to leave!
And I could not breathe,
So freely
When then at first,
I saw you.

Why in my mind...
Do I always find,
Seeing you is a need...
Fed by constant wishes,
Feeding with a crave...
To have you near me.

Amazed I feel just steps away.

Why in my mind...
Do I always find,
Seeing you is a need...
Fed by constant wishes,
Feeding with a crave...
To have you near me.
With a kiss left to reminisce,
In a hunger missed.

When I first,
Saw you...
I thought my heart would stop,
Beating!
I felt my legs trimble,
As if they would drop...
From beneath me,
Easily.
When I first,
Saw you.

And amazed I am,
To feel just steps away.
