What Would We Be? Poem by Shalom Freedman

What Would We Be?

If it were not for the music
What would we be?
If it were not for the laughter
What would be?
If it were not for the kindness
Would we be at all?
If it were not for love and giving to others
And the music and the kindness and the laughter
And the search to know and understand
What would we be?
Without the love of beauty and goodness and truth
What would we be?
What would we be?
