What If... Poem by Spock the Vegan

What If...

Rating: 5.0

What if the Holy Bible is correct that the
wicked will burn at Christ's second coming?
'For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch'(1)

What if most Christians are correct that
everyone is in need of a savior?
'For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law…For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God'(2)

What if the Catholics and Martin Luther are correct
that baptism is necessary for salvation?
'He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned'(3)

What if the Baptists are correct that
baptism must be done by immersion?
'Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him… And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water'(4)
'Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father'(5)

What if the early Methodists were correct
that alcohol is the root of many social ills?
'And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit'(6)

What if the Seventh Day Adventists are correct
that eating meat is not good for the body?
'For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs'(7)

What if the Mormons are correct that all who repent
will be resurrected to a kingdom of glory,
with that glory dependent on bad and good works?
'And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works'(8)

What if the Jehovah Witnesses are correct
about you not having an eternal soul?
'And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell'(9)

Confused about something?
Isn't it time for you to pray to find out?
'If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him'(10)

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Wes Vogler 24 December 2015

What of the most obvious conclusion God, in all his many forms, was created by man as an instrument to gain power. Is there a tribe that does not have a witch doctor? Let us collect the values of each religion and vote them into existence without the many divergent beliefs? If this makes me a wicked person, so be it. Someday common sense and decency may yet rule. The first point of sincerity would be to NOT claim tax exemption, but pay our way. I do go on.

God created man, not the other way around. Satan is the author of confusion, and is doing all he can to win followers and subvert the truth. You are not wicked, and God loves you. You just need a little guidance. Reading the scriptures and prayer are the way to get there.

I think about things like this, too. Clever, well-written piece about the different pathways to heaven.

Thank you Brian. The only path to heaven is through Jesus Christ our lord. There are many distractions.
