What Did You Ever Give Me Poem by Randy McClave

What Did You Ever Give Me

I gave you my love
And I gave you hope
I gave you my soul completely.
I gave you my dreams
I gave you my art
And I gave you my eyes to see.

I gave you my hours
And I gave you my seconds
To the very last degree.
I gave you my life
And I gave you my money
And my promises very secretly.

Then to all of my doors
And to all of my locks
I gave you the only key.

I gave you my care
And I gave you my clothes
I gave you help without a plea.
I gave you my tears
I gave you my sweat
And I gave you all of my energy.

I gave you my home
I showed you freedom
Truly was I joyful and happy.
I then gave you my dreams
I gave you my blood
Then I prayed to the Almighty.

Then I looked
I saw all that you took
I wondered, what did you ever give me.
