What Artistry Do You Employ? Poem by Elia Michael

What Artistry Do You Employ?

What artistry do you employ to smile?
A smile which complements your haloed curls;
Your eyes reveal an inner lack of guile
And shine with lustred sheens of wine-dark pearls.
What happy thoughts reside within your mind,
That you can always be so generous
And look for good in people, being blind
To all their faults, with kindly tenderness?
What is your secret? Please, disclose it now;
I want to be a duplicate of you;
I really want to know, so show me how
A smile can be so joyous through and through.
Oh tell, and share with me, the way you cope
With life, and give to me, a little hope.
